Author Guidelines

The Insigne Journal of Humanities welcomes contributions from authors who possess at least an ongoing undergraduate education, provided that the works address relevant issues within the Humanities field. These areas may include Law, Anthropology, Economics, History, Sociology, and other disciplines within the human sciences, applied social sciences, Linguistics, Arts, and Letters.

We publish works in the following formats: scientific articles, extended abstracts, experience reports, reviews, and interviews. To submit your work to our journal, please visit the submissions page.

All submissions will be evaluated by the editorial board to determine if they meet the objectives and scope of this journal. Those deemed suitable will be sent for blind peer review before determining if the work will be: accepted, accepted with revisions, or rejected.

Blind Peer Review

The Insigne Journal of Humanities adopts the peer review system in its editorial process for reviewing submitted works, both for regular and special editions. This method is essential for ensuring the scientific credibility of the articles and is conducted by the Editorial Board. At least two reviewers, who are unaware of the authors' identities, independently analyze the works, ensuring impartiality and alignment with academic quality standards.

Evaluation Process Stages:

Stage 1: The editorial board conducts an initial screening to verify if the manuscript aligns with the journal's focus. If the article is not compliant, it is rejected without undergoing peer review.

Stage 2: If the article is deemed appropriate, it is forwarded to two expert reviewers for double-blind peer review, ensuring impartiality.

Stage 3: The reviewers analyze the article based on criteria such as originality, scientific relevance, clarity, and methodological appropriateness. Each reviewer provides an individual report with suggestions and comments for the author.

Stage 4: The editorial board communicates the final decision to the author, which may include revising the manuscript according to the reviewers' suggestions. If the article is accepted, it proceeds to the publication preparation phase.

Stage 5: If the article is approved with revisions, the author makes the requested modifications. After the revised version is submitted, the editorial board reviews the changes to ensure all requirements have been met.

Stage 6: After final approval, the article enters the layout process and is included in the next issue of the journal.

Possible Evaluation Results:

  1. Approved: The article is accepted without the need for modifications.

  2. Approved with Revisions: The article may be approved, but with the condition that the author makes the modifications suggested by the reviewers.

  3. Rejected: The article does not meet the scientific and editorial standards and is therefore rejected.

Controversy Resolution:

If there is significant divergence between the reviewers' reports, the editorial board may request a third review, whose evaluation will serve as a tiebreaker. The board may also deliberate based on the received reports to make a final decision.

Submission Requirements for Images and Photographs

The Insigne Journal of Humanities (IJH) recommends that images and photographs be used only when essential for the results and discussions presented in the submitted articles and texts. It is crucial to ensure that the identity of the individuals depicted is protected and that the authorship of the photographs is properly credited. Generally, IJH avoids the inclusion of images due to ethical concerns.
