It is with great pleasure that we announce the publication of the 5th edition of the Insigne Journal of Humanities, which stands as a plural and interdisciplinary space dedicated to the critical examination of the social, legal, cultural, and ethical transformations of our time.

This volume reaffirms the journal’s commitment to hosting research that not only engages with contemporary dilemmas but also offers innovative reflections and possible solutions. The articles gathered here address highly relevant themes, such as the use of artificial intelligence in international tax compliance, exploring its impacts on fraud detection, regulatory challenges, and the ethical limits of algorithmic governance, as well as an analysis of the unconstitutional state of affairs in the Brazilian prison system, with emphasis on the aggravated effects on the female prison population and the repercussions of punishment on family dynamics.

More than a collection of academic studies, this edition invites the reader to delve into issues that cut across different areas of the humanities, offering a critical, up-to-date, and socially engaged perspective. The thematic and methodological diversity of the works reinforces the journal’s mission as a space for dialogue between knowledge fields, promoting an interdisciplinary approach that sheds light on pressing issues of our present.

We express our gratitude to the authors who shared their research, as well as to the dedicated editorial team, reviewers, and collaborators, whose efforts were essential to the quality of this edition.

We hope this issue inspires fruitful debates, encourages new research, and contributes to strengthening the academic community’s ethical commitment to building a more just, inclusive, and humane society.
