UFRN Under Surveillance: Analyzing the Activities of the Security and Information Advisory (ASI) at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) During the Adriel Lopes Cardoso Period

Abstract

This article aims to analyze the performance of the Security and Information Advisory Service (ASI) under the administration of Adriel Lopes Cardoso, who headed the ASI at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) between 1977 and 1980. It examines documents produced between 1978 and 1980. The objective is to investigate the espionage network that existed at UFRN in the context of the entrepreneurial-military dictatorship. The sources used in this article are documents from UFRN's ASI, the Internal Security Division of the Ministry of Education and Culture (DSI-MEC) and the Brazilian Armed Forces. The authors Andrade (1994), Fico (2007), and Motta (2014) provide the theoretical basis of this work.
